Making a Night cover part 2

ok I skipped a few steps to get to this point in the coloring. And I'm sure that can annoy some but I'll cover the way I tackle basic build up in a different process post.

So what I did to get to this point was toss in some base values and colors as well as layering some texture layers. then I adjusted the overall color scheme using a gradient map layer. I usually use these either as a layer set to 'normal' or 'color' but at a partial opacity. I experiment a lot and make custom gradients up as I go. I keep messing around untill I find something that strikes me.
Then I add some normal color back over top.
Next I usually step over to painter and start to push the colors and values further. In this case I primarily to 3 brushes:
an fx glow brush to bring out some highlights.
a digital watercolor brush for glazing.
and a grainy blender to smear things around a bit.
And then a bit more building up. Usually back and forth a few more times between photoshop and painter.
Ok so next post I'll finish up. I plan on playing around for a bit with the existing cover dressing and the logo.

More soon.
